TRANSFORMERS Gen X Style Guide

  • During the 1980’s cartoon run of Transformers all of the characters were illustrated differently depending on the artist animating the scene

  • Fast forward to 2020 and this makes issues for Hasbro as a Licensor because there is not one “true” version of the Gen X Transformers to send to Licensees as a guide.

  • My task was to watch several episodes of the Gen X series, and take a visual average of each of the main characters, then create tight control drawings to be a master representation of them.

  • These were then created into 3D models, and sent along with the control drawings and characters to Hasbro’s Gen X Licensees to create consistency among all Gen X product
